Friendly Introduction
Welcome to my life and work. Well, a select representation of both. Life highlights include surfing on the Nicaraguan coast and lip-synching to “Poor Unfortunate Souls” in drag. My work encompasses journalism, copywriting, and a PowerPoint adaptation of Sophocles’ Philoctetes. I also once made a musical theater playlist for Presidents’ Day.
About this website: I created it in 2012, at 27 years old. Here’s my at-the-time explanation of its domain name: “The name Quietly Judging comes from my dual affinity for evaluation and tact. Sometimes evaluation gets the better of me, so take warning. Much of the judging occurs on my blog, though you can also find unapologetic criticism among my publications. Enjoy, I hope!”
Since then I’ve mellowed a little. My focus has shifted from criticism to real-life stories. That said, I still welcome the chance to channel my inner Anthony Lane. But now there’s some Upton Sinclair of mixed in. Thank you, therapy!
